The middle Tees - 21/11/10

A nice Sunday trip with YCC - an open to all trip to the middle Tees on a pretty cold morning :) i dragged myself out of bed at 6.45am but soon got excited when packing my car ready to go :) I met most people at the boathouse, and then onto a butty and a brew stop to pick up the others at a layby off of the A66 :) ... nice:) We did the ritual shuttle faffage, and got on at Barnard Castle, where we were met by an initial wee bouncy rapid which was nice!

This is what a lot of the run was like, a few unexpected rapids which were rocky and a lot of people got beached, there was a really nice little rock slide which was well fun as well!

Whorlton (natural weir) - photo from uk rivers - this littleish weir is a major hazard in actual fact, run river LEFT! Its deep recirculating - one of the worst ones ive seen actually but runnable over a nice 6ft or so ledge drop on the left hand side so its ok :)

This nice little stretch photographed from the bridge at the get out, caused so much problems! Its a series of small ledges but they do tow back so you have to go at them hard and there was a couple of unexpected swims here!

I was pretty happy with the day - got a bit of river leading knowledge in helping out with the young'un in our group - class little boater too! I really enjoyed my first Tees experience!
