Recovery Part II - Getting Moving

1/8/12

So, its been a few weeks now since the original injury. Been concentrating on getting back to running and mobility exercises, and strengthening the rotator cuff muscles with the standard protocol for these things! Mobility is going really well, its down to the loss of lateral rotation and i cant *quite* put my arms directly above my head and rest them on the floor when lying down, but im getting there! Im running twice a week now, up to 4 miles and im thinking about getting back in a boat very soon :) pulling lots of hours at work while im too injured to do things seems like a plan!

Ive been keeping a diary of the exercise ive been doing to see when it hurts and if its me thats causing it because although its a bit OCD, i want to get this recovery right. First time, you dont get a second chance on this. The one message that im getting from everyone is to give it the time it needs, a second dislocation means that you have a whole life of trouble ahead of you so, im slowly coming to terms that my date with the River Moriston, might have to wait a few months. I so wanted to nail it at wet west, at the same festival after the wench beat my ass last year!! So i think that any boating at wet west is going to have to be put off. Ill have to be shuttle bunny and photographer :( gutted but im still going to go party so itll be wicked fun anyway!

However, to come back stronger, better boater and learn from all this, i have to let go of all the being angry and frustrated, or beating myself up for not sorting out my technical paddling flaws sooner, and concentrate on learning again which im really looking forward to :)
