Recovery Part IV - More recovery, more boating and RRROCKTAPE!

So, this rock tape stuff....anybody else seriously skeptical!? I was until i tried it. But what did i have to lose?! Anyway, looked it up on youtube and gave it a stab and this is the most similar to how it was taped up...

Week one - it survived 5 showers, three runs, two paddling sessions now (woohoo!), cycling and all of the pulling of clothes on and off, and a nights kip on the floor - all spread over 6 days and it was still stuck on there! I had to peel it off on Saturday as it was itching a bit but i was absolutely shocked as about 6 hours after i took it off, my shoulder was aching again like it was before we taped it up! This stuff really is doing something! I had the day off from it and then went to get taped up again on Sunday!
Week 1 - Pre first run

Week 1 - Post first run

Week 1 - Post 5 showers!

Also, spoke to a RockDoc (as theyre called on the website! awesome name) called Paul, one of the physios working with the rocktape company, who gave me some really great advice on the two ways of taping and how i can customise it for me :) what a legend and so helpful when all the physios were letting me down!

Week two - slightly different tactics taken to avoid fraying edges and stretching the ends, but essentially the same tape job as it worked so well last week. Havent put my new tactics (thanks to Paul!) into action yet but thats week 3! This week, 5 showers, 3 runs, lots of cycling, a physio session, an MRI scan where they peeled off the front bit to the shoulder, usual clothing on/off stress on it, and the drive to Glasgow and a night out! I got Dave to peel it off for me on Saturday i think, or was it when i was drunk on Friday night?! :S! No boating this week but still, its doing well!

Week 2 - Midweek before MRI - see the bit peeling where the hospital  removed a bit

Week 2 - from the back of the shoulder

Week 2 - day after MRI...still going! (dodgy photo!)

Conclusion so far - Rock tape sticks, that kinesio tape doesnt - it came off before i even got the second strip on out of the what, 5 i think it was of week 1 - that was the skin coloured stuff! So, have been impressed with Rock Tape so far, put it on, went paddling, slept in it, went for a run, a bit peeled (probably as i picked at it this morning), showered, it fell off on one side, got and stuck it back on! Wicked stuff :) Same thing week 2 but they peeled off the front for the MRI and it still survived until the weekend with no structural failure!
Does it actually do something? Yes it does. Both occasions that ive taken it off ive been aching 6 hours later, not so much after the second week but still noticeable...just feels like you have extra stability/reasurrance in the joint and the body can somehow concentrate on healing it up rather than having to have it aching all the time! Pleasantly surprised!
