Two English birds take on Glasgow...! 14-16/12/12
Jo basically decided that she and I were going on a random Jolly up to Glasgow to see friends, go boating and of course, drink the plentiful beer in Glasgow with the boys :) Jolly good way to start the xmas holiday I feel!
We both finished work as early as we could, boats on the van, ate supermarket sandwiches for dinner on the drive up and arrived about midnight to an already smashed Dave, and proceeded to spend the remainder of the evening drinking skittles vodka until 2am...turns out, I like this vodka and i didnt get at all smashed.... :S
Friday morning, big-ass cooked breakfast, but it was the dryest ive ever known Scotland so we ended up on the Clyde for a bimble and I got my playboat wet so I was happy :) Found that there is some nice waves and stuff to play on and one awesome sticky hole or two under a bridge which i got pretty fond of, i was shattered after a couple of hours of that! Dave literally ran the shuttle (I think he got bored!) and we missioned it back to the city to find food and beer! Jo, bless her, was wiped out after 4 13 hour shifts or something so we went out solo, met up with some others, got myself a union suit from Mark and proceeded to get wrecked on Brew Dog beer...mistake! But brilliant!
Saturday morning, I was the LEAST HAPPY PERSON IN THE WORLD at 7am when i got hauled out of bed...meet at the store at 830?! Who the hell thought that up?! (motivation Dave) After Dan and Matts comedy tying on of Marks boat, onto a car with a gaffa tape window, we left an hour later. I think Mark might have been panicing a bit every time they hit a bump or corner.
Finally, it was peeing it down and there was water so manning up was mandatory and we found ourselves off to Allan Water which was really good fun actually, I wasnt sure what to expect to be totally honest. Plus i got to laugh at the 4 boys running to get changed in a shelter when the girls stayed up in the rain and we laughed at them...hehe.
The afternoon was a slightly obscure one, Calair Burn, a short dash with a big-ass rapid in the middle which i think that Dave and Mark had on tick lists for a while, and i missed them doing it because I (and the others) was hauling ass down the bank :'( The final rapid was really nice and it left us all disappointed to get off the river but after some comedy gold hotpants action we headed back to the pub!!

A good weekend, i tested out the IR suit, and was pretty impressed, and i got the Rocktape out again for the first time in ages as i was on a half decent river and it did the job superbly once again. Paddling wise, thats me checking out for xmas as this week i travel down to Oxfordshire, to go to the HPL meeting...which will be epic, and i get to write it of as 'work'! Win!
:D
