YCC Wales Dec 2012

This weekend was the YCC Wales trip, there were 11 of use that went, with 10 of us boating. Piling into cars on a pitch black friday, Jon, Rich Simon and I all rocked up to the Braich Goch Bunkhouse - which it turns out, is a pub...awesome. I however, retired early after munching on a curry as id been away at Rutherford Labs all ween on this TAO course :)

So, onto the paddling and the most epic of epic faff action ever! We were all ready, thermals on, ready to walk out the door at 830...we left at 10am after taking over an hour to decide which river to paddle! Still, we had a day out on the Conwy which was a bimble but it had one or two good rapids - one of which was in my opinion, one of the most beautiful rapids ive paddled! Lovely clean lines and a nice little kick up the bum at the end if you werent paying attention :)

Sunday, a much better start to the day, we left by about 9 to go get on the Aberglaslyn gorge. Its only short, but still, an awesome run to do. Top section, nice grade 2 practice ground nailing eddies, needed a bit more water but still good. The next section is the real meat of it all, guide book says grade 4, it was a nice technical run with some must make eddies, some nice moves to be had and a fall at the end. Lovely clean run. Unfortunately, i did go off the falls and land on another one of my trademark dirty braces which didnt help the shoulder so i walked off the nice bit at the bottom of grade 2/3 :) looked lovely too but i did what i came to do so i was content walking. JBT had a swim while i was walking though, which soon turned into shouting to those on the river and pelting it down the bank with my bag, boat abandoned, and abseiling down to the boat from a nearby tree.....there is always one, and its always on the way back to the car when your not paying attention!
