YUCC Lakes Trip 23rd - 25th Nov 2012
So I decided to tag along to the YUCC lakes trip recently, and also to tag Dave along with me! It was thoroughly wet so i was hoping to get some decent runs in. We rocked up at the bunkhouse on Friday and had a few drinks and some food and then ended up sleeping in the car! I forgot the tendencies of freshers to drink all night...what a freeeeeezing night that was! We woke up to ice on the cars outside and went off to do the Greta feeling a little worse for wear, but its a playboat run which was awesome :)
Second river of the day was the Kent, and Dave practically raced me down in and then I got off at the end, barely able to move I was so tired! Looking back i reckon i should have stayed on but I was clearly not up for it at the time! You cant win them all! We decided that we really needed sleep, in not sub-zero temperatures by this point and went and stayed in Ambleside, and felt loads better after a decent kip and some breakfast. We trundled off to get on the Duddon. Levels werent quite up to Troutbeck unfortunately!
The WHOLE club got on below the gorge thing at Birks Bridge, but Dave saw his chance to be a massive show off and style it for an admiring audience with many cameras!....

It was awesome :) We proceeded down the Duddon from there in various groups, and most of us went down the lower afterwards and chose miss out the middle due to fading daylight.... Dave had the Cheshire cat smile on as he waved goodbye back off up to Glasgow even if totally tired so I hope that leaves him with a reasonable opinion of England...!
What else was he going to do with the box?!

Awesome view leaving High Wray
Sun is trying!
