Parent invasion!

So that was the marathon done! After a really nice afternoon with Daves mum, the dogs, and my Mum and Dad of course, we headed back up to the car. We got home that night and cooked a big Balmoral Chicken dinner with the parents which sent me right off to sleep. I think I slept for 11 hours!

Up the next day to take Mum and Dad around a wee bit while they were here, so we went off to the Falkirk wheel and had a lovely boat trip in the sun. I was driving which was ok but walking around was a bit sore. It was walking pace or nothing for sure! Then we went off to a really really good cafe called the Coffee Bothy on the way to the Wallace monument, and had a really nice lunch bought with the £20 gift from Aunty Jen which paid for a drink, lunch and a scone each. This place was seriously good. Then on to the monument for a walk about, really impressive up there. We didn't pay or go inside but we walked up there and had a good look at it and the view over the Ochils was brilliant. Dad couldn't quite believe it when I said I ran over them in a race the other week! We then proceeded to get a bit lost on way back, went the long way round back to the car although I don't think Mum and Dad were expecting it to be quite that long, took us half an hour to get down lol! Then, finally we decided to go up to Callander, to see the place a bit and we ended up walking into Bracklinn Falls. Was a nice walk actually, and the falls was quite impressive, but we'd definitely had enough buy the time we got back to the car! Back to Glasgow we go! Another home cooked dinner night tonight, it gets so repetitive going out otherwise. This time we had a curry for us all, Mum and me went and got the stuff while Dad flaked out on the sofa!

Tuesday was a local Glasgow day, we got the city sightseeing bus! What a bunch of tourists!! So funny. But it was ok actually, not overly cheap but it saved a hell of a lot of walking. We stopped in at the Necropolis and Cathedral, the St Mungo museum literally just for a pee (!!) and then we got back on the bus to the Peoples Palace and Glasgow Green. We didn't spend long here, then we went off to the transport museum and tall ship. Both pretty cool actually, we could get on board the tall ship and into the transport museum for free which was ace. Was all very nice, but after deciding that nothing on the lunch menu there was very enticing, we went on the bus up to the west end, where we ended up with a sarnie from M&S, but then wandered up to the botanic gardens which actually were brilliant. You can wander in and out of all the greenhouses and have a look at all kindsa stuff in there! Carnivorous plants and all sorts! Then we walked back to get the bus and ended up at Kelvingrove art gallery. Now thats a place. Its got original art from all kids of famous people like Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Matisse, ... all kinds of stuff. Anyways, after they kicked us out, we got the bus back to George Square and home again. I went off tutoring for an hour and then came back and we went out for a meal at the Meat Bar. I had a whole rack of ribs and it was glorious. I finally got my bucket of red wine as well! Yas!! Walk home to wear it off was definitely a good thing!!
On the morning before they left, we just pottered about the gallery of modern art. That was a weird place. Then we got a coffee I think and a quick bun from Greggs and headed back via a wander by the river and Glasgow green arch. Then, to the airport earlier on. Im so tired I can barely stand up! Let alone go back to normal!

I hope they had a good time, the walking about Stirling etc was all I could manage to be honest, maybe a more exciting visit next time!! :D
